13 Year Old Mows Lawns to Support Downtown Erie Businesses
After the riots caused damage to several downtown business last Saturday, a local 13-year-old decided to do something special. Nathanial Hall is raising money to support some of those businesses by mowing lawns in his neighborhood.
He said he loves his local community here in Erie and when he saw some of the damage to these shops and restaurants he wanted to help.
Hall has been mowing lawns since last summer trying to save money for his own expenses but this week 100% of the money he receives from doing yard work will go directly to support some of the businesses effected by last weeks riots.
He has mowed about 20 lawns this week and is asking for any donation of at least $5 in return
However, a large part of the money raised comes from his GoFundMe page titled 'Lawns 4 Locals.' In total Hall has raised over $1,500.
"It makes me feel great because I know that I'm making a difference," said Hall
The GoFundMe page will be taken down at 12:00a.m. on Monday. However, Hall said he can see himself doing similar fundraisers to support other causes in the future.
