Using guidelines from the CDC,  the NCAA and now the state, Gannon University is preparing for a return to sports in the fall. While many procedures meant to limit the spread of Coronavirus are still being determined, by each individual school, there is some clarification from the NCAA as to what collegiate athletics will look like. On the other hand, the state guidelines that were released yesterday have added more questions.

The NCAA has reduced schedules by 15-30 percent depending on the sport.

Gannon and the PSAC are still looking to find non-conference match-ups. However, there are conferences in the surrounding region that have already chosen not to play any out of conference games.

Yesterday, the state released guidelines that included limiting athletic gatherings to 25 people in yellow phase counties and 250 or 50 percent capacity in the green phase. What events and who those numbers apply to adds more confusion but all of these decision will ultimately be up to the schools.

In order for student athletes to return to campus, a plan on testing and screening, what happens if a student athlete tests positive for Coronavirus and other procedures meant to limit the spread of Covid-19 will be solidified by Gannon in the next few weeks.
