Taking Precautions in the Green Phase
THE GREEN LIGHT FROM THE STATE IS A GOOD SIGN FOR ERIE COUNTY MOVING FORWARD. LIFE CAN START TO RETURN HOW WE KNEW IT, BUSINESSES CAN REOPEN AND MORE PEOPLE ARE ABLE TO GO TO WORK BUT, THIS GREEN LIGHT DOESN'T MEAN MOVE TOO FAST. dOCTOR bECKY dAWSON is an epidemiologist at Allegheny college. she wants people to remember that we are still in a pandemic.
"We're going pandemic green, its not like go, it means that the pandemic is still going on, but we now can get out, businesses can open but its all going to look differently," says Dr. Dawson.
FOR HOSPITALS LIKE UPMC- DOCTOR GREGORY BEARD SAYS THAT THEY ARE FULLY PREPARED FOR THE GREEN PHASE.
"We have plenty of capacity at UPMC Hamot, and in our local and regional hospitals to be able to care for those patients. Our hospitals have not been overwhelmed by Coronavirus or Coronavirus patients," says Doctor Beard.
MASKS, DISTANCING, AND HAND WASHING WILL HAVE TO CONTINUE FOR THE TIME BEING. IN SOME COUNTIES ALREADY GREEN, BUSINESSES HAVE SAFETY CHECKS WHERE A TEMPERATURE IS TAKEN RIGHT WHEN YOU WALK IN.
DOCTOR BECKY DAWSON wants every one to know that although life is going back to normal, we are still fighting a bigger battle.
"The pandemic is still here but this just means case counts have gone down, we're looking at decreased community spread, but the virus is still here it's still spreading," says Doctor Dawson.
The state also wants to remind people that gyms, hair salons and restaurants can reopen at half capacity. They recommend frequent hand washing and to work from home while you can.
