A man is dead after his car left the roadway and crashed into a tree catching fire. 

State Police are on the scene at Route 5 in North East.

The crash happened around 7:15 pm Thursday. 

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say they do not know the caused the man to leave the roadway.
