In Erie County alone there is close 700 positive cases of covid-19 according to the Erie County Department of Health. In Pennsylvania the numbers continue to rise with 719 new cases reported Thursday. Less than a week ago Gov. Wolf passed legislation making face masks mandatory in all public spaces but not everyone believes its necessary when outdoors.

“I feel like face masks outside aren't necessarily needed if we're out here at the Bayfront where everyone is keeping their distance minding their own business,” said Erie Resident, Odyzza Centro.

From outdoor bars to the dock on Dobbin's Landing, not many people wore face masks.  But the handful who were told Erie News Now that they worry about the dangers of Covid-19 in all public spaces.

"People are talking the wind is blowing people definitely just need to be smart," said Erie residents, Dea Woodward and Kevin Jones.

As of now it isn't clear if it is mandatory to wear face masks if you are outdoors and you are practicing social distance.
