Unauthorized Skate Park on Erie's West Side to be Removed
An unauthorized skate park on Erie's west side will be removed by the Bureau of Streets, city officials announced Friday.
The skate park was installed on the south side of Woodland Dr.
On Thursday, the Bureau of Streets fenced off the concrete ramps and deemed it hazardous.
"The Bureau of Streets evaluated the safety and community concerns of the site of the skate park, and determined the equipment was installed in a public right of way and creates a liability to the City of Erie,” said Public Works Director Dave Mulvihill.
Several residents were contacted Thursday by Public Works Assistant Director Charles Zysk to find out if they had any knowledge as to who created the ramps.
One neighbor said the individuals who use the park always arrive by car, which leads city officials to believe they are not from around the neighborhood.
