Nearly $400,000 in Funding Awarded to Northwest Pa. Career, Technical Schools

Nearly $400,000 in federal funding is on its way to career and technical schools throughout northwest Pennsylvania.
Erie High School, Erie County Technical School, Crawford County Career & Technical Center and Warren County AVTS will all receive a portion of the federal money.
A total of $381,202 will go toward helping the schools resume instruction while keeping students and staff safe.
The funding, part of a $10.2 million package allocated to career and technical schools throughout Pennsylvania, comes from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which authorizes governors to determine the educational use of Governor's Emergency Education Relief Funds.
Schools can use the funding for various resources including protective equipment, hand sanitizer and cleaning products, equipment or technology to take classrooms online, installation of barriers or other protective devices in buildings, and the purchase of health apps to assist in contact tracing and monitoring of students.
Northwest Pa. schools will receive the following:
- Erie High School: $182,819
- Erie County Technical School: $116,101
- Crawford County Career & Technical Center: $54,541
- Warren County AVTS: $27,741
The schools will be able to access the funds sometime in the next week.
