Millcreek Township School District officially has a new Superintendent of Schools.

Dr. Ian Roberts was sworn in by Judge Stephanie Domitrovich Wednesday afternoon at the Erie County Courthouse.

Roberts will serve a five-year term at the district, ending on August 11, 2025.

According to a news release sent out by the district Wednesday afternoon, the Millcreek Township School Board agreed on an annual salary of $180,000 for Roberts, increasing at a rate of 2% per year thereafter. Roberts will be eligible to receive a performance bonus, which will be based upon the successful completion of objective standards to include, but are not limited to, school rankings, PSSA test results, Keystone test results, graduation rate, reduction in charter school enrollment, employee satisfaction, reduction in employee absenteeism, credit ratings, audit performance, unrestricted fund balances and positive community relations to be agreed upon by the Superintendent and the Board.

Dr. Roberts received a unanimous vote in a June 29 School Board meeting as the selected candidate.

"I have already connected with school leaders in the district and it's a dynamic team," said Roberts. "And they are just waiting for me to come and take my position as my place in the team so we can continue the work and the successes they've had. I'm excited to serve the students, teachers and staff in the district this year and to have an unprecedented year."

Dr. Roberts was greeted by Millcreek Township School District students, faculty and staff outside the courthouse. Many cheerleaders were also present to welcome him in the Millcreek School District family.

Previously, Roberts served as the Chief Schools Officer of Aspire Public Schools, a preparatory district where he led the team of superintendents serving schools in Los Angeles, the Bay Area and Central Valley Area, Calif., and Memphis, Tenn.

Roberts replaces previous Superintendent William Hall, who retired from Millcreek Township School District on January 17.
