Harbor Creek Teacher Accused of Sending Sexually Explicit Messages to Juvenile
A Harbor Creek Senior High School teacher has been arrested for sending sexually explicit messages to a juvenile, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Robert S. Ludwig, 44, was arraigned Tuesday morning on two felony counts of disseminating explicit sexual material to a minor and a misdemeanor count of corruption of minors.
He was taken to the Erie County Prison but later released on $25,000 bond later in the day, court records show.
The investigation started after State Police in Marienville received a Childline Report Jan. 22 regarding an alleged exposure incident involving Ludwig and two students at a camper in Eldred Township, Jefferson County, Pa.
One of the juveniles - a 14-year-old male - had frequent contact with Ludwig by text message between Aug. 14, 2019 and Nov. 27, 2019, troopers said. The phone was turned over, and investigators found several "concerning messages" exchanged between the juvenile and teacher containing sexually explicit content, according to the criminal complaint.
Other messages sent by Ludwig to the victim asked him to delete all of the texts they exchanged, investigators said.
The victim said Ludwig was his teacher in eighth grade, and they started hanging out starting in November 2018, according to the criminal complaint. Since then, they have gone on several trips together to Indiana, Massachusetts and Ohio, but most of the communication by cell phone happened in Pennsylvania, troopers said.
Ludwig was listed as an English teacher on the website for Harbor Creek Senior High School as recently as Aug. 2, but his name has since been removed.
Ludwig is scheduled to appear before Magisterial District Judge Lisa Ferrick Aug. 26 for a preliminary hearing. Court records do not list an attorney for Ludwig.
