A new local non-profit is working on bringing the Erie community together with the help of breakfast.

Career and Dreams non-profit hosted "Breakfast with the Cops" Saturday morning at Tipsy Bean coffee shop.

"Not all officers are bad and I'm grateful in our city that we have wonderful officers and wonderful people to participate as a family," said Aleeza Figueroa, Erie resident.

Police officers and community members were moving and grooving at the event. However, the goal is to give officers and residents the opportunity to get to know each other up-close and personal.

"You got bad individuals in every profession; but the overall message that we're trying to instill in our youth and community as well as the adults, small percentage," said Sgt. Tom Lenox, of Erie Police Department.

"We need more community involvement more understanding, more togetherness to get through anything," said Tywonn Taylor, CEO of Career and Dreams.

The event began at 10 a.m. and ended at 12 p.m.
