UPPER ST. CLAIR, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a man and woman were found dead in a home near Pittsburgh in a case they are treating as an apparent murder-suicide.

Allegheny County police say officers in Upper St. Clair Township were sent to a home after a resident called shortly after 10 a.m. Monday and said he had just killed his wife and intended to take his own life.

SWAT team officers entered the residence and found the 67-year-old man and his 54-year-old wife, who were both pronounced dead by medics just before 12:30 p.m. Monday. Their names weren't immediately released.

Police said investigators learned that the couple had recently become estranged and the woman returned to the home for some belongings when she was shot and killed. They believe the man then killed himself shortly after calling police.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call investigators.
