Northwest Bank plans to close more than 40 locations later this year as it consolidates its offices.

42 full-service offices, one drive-through location and one business office will close the week of Dec. 14. The closures include:

  • Erie - Grandview Plaza,  1328 E. Grandview Blvd. in Erie
  • Lake City, 2102 Rice Ave. in Lake City
  • Wattsburg, 14457 Main St. in Wattsburg
  • Tidioute, 5 Buckingham St. in Tidioute
  • Springboro, 105 S. Main St. in Springboro
  • Geneva, 30 E. Main St. in Geneva, Ohio
  • Ashtabula, 1040 Lake Ave. in Ashtabula, Ohio

Letters have been mailed out to customers who have accounts affiliated with the bank offices that will close. Safe deposit box customers will receive information about how Northwest can continue to keep their valuables safe.

Some employees will be reassigned to nearby offices, but others will not be retained and will be offered a severance package.

Northwest Bank said customers are increasingly using technology like online and mobile banking and ATMs to access their money and manage their finances, causing the amount of traffic and transactions done in person at its offices to drop. As a result, it evaluated its 205 full service offices and 8 free-standing drive through locations across Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and Indiana and has decided to close many offices in close proximity to other Northwest locations.
