Ballot Counting in Erie County is Completed, One Week After Election Day
Ballot counting in Erie county from the 2020 election is completed, as election workers finished counting what was left of provisional ballots around 8:30 Tuesday night.
The unofficial results show Democrat Joe Biden received 68,336 votes in Erie county, while President Donald Trump received 66,912.
Tuesday, election office workers continued the process of going through provisional ballots to see which ones are valid to count.
They did it under the watchful eye of party and candidate observers.
But those observers were less contentious Tuesday, deciding to drop about 50 challenges to provisional ballots from Monday.
That allowed the pace of evaluating provisional ballots to pick up on Tuesday.
Tuesday, both presidential candidates picked up votes, though the final unofficial count shows Biden wins Erie county by 1,424 votes.
If there is no call for a recount, the county board of elections must certify the vote by November 23rd.
