Fourth Pa. State Lawmaker Tests Positive For COVID-19

A Representative from Philadelphia is the latest Pennsylvania state lawmaker to test positive for COVID-19.
Rep. Jordan Harris (D- Philadelphia) announced his positive test result Wednesday morning. The positive test comes after the Representative was in close contact with a member of his community who began exhibiting Coronavirus symptoms.
“Last week, I was made aware that I was in close contact with a member of my community who began experiencing COVID-19 symptoms after our contact. Out of an abundance of caution, I immediately went into self-isolation and scheduled my own COVID-19 test. Subsequently, my exposure has resulted in a positive test result,” Rep, Harris said in the statement.
As per the statement, Rep. Harris, who serves as the House Democratic Whip, has been isolating since last week and is in “good health and good spirits.” He adds that there has been no potential for exposure to the Capitol complex in Harrisburg.
“As the virus spreads throughout our communities at an alarming rate, I encourage everyone to follow the mitigation efforts put forth by Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine and continue being diligent with mask-wearing, washing our hands, and practicing social distancing. As the House returns to session, I will be working remotely from home,” Rep. Harris adds.
Rep. Harris is the fourth state lawmaker to test positive for COVID-19. Rep. Andrew Lewis (R- Dauphin) tested positive in May. In July, Senator Anthony Williams (D- Philadelphia), the Senate Democratic Whip, tested positive for the virus. In October, Rep. Paul Schemel (R- Franklin) received a positive COVID-19 test as well.
