A vendor used by Allegheny Health Network (AHN) was recently the victim of a ransomware attack, AHN officials announced Tuesday.

The attack exposed data housed by Blackbaud, a global information technology company that provides software and cloud computing services to different organizations, including nonprofits such as hospitals.

The breach was a sophisticated attack that affected thousands of Blackbaud's client organizations and their individual donors, including AHN.

AHN is currently notifying individuals whose data may have been exposed as a result of the data breach.

According to AHN officials, Blackbaud has assured AHN that no credit card, bank account or social security information related to AHN patients or donors were accessed. Additionally, there is no evidence that any data was used maliciously.

The exposed data was destroyed following the ransomware attack and was not made available to additional parties.

AHN officials have established a dedicated website for information related to the data breach.

A dedicated call center has also been established by calling 1-833-484-2119. It is available seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Concerned patients or donors can also email blackbaudinfo@ahn.org with any questions.
