If you use natural gas for your appliances or to heat your home, expect to pay slightly more next fall and winter.

National Fuel Gas is projecting an increase in overall gas supply charges starting in Aug. 2021, according to the gas costs projection submitted to the Pennsylvania Public Utility.

A typical residential customer will pay approximately $5.93 more per year in this state-required filing, if approved as filed.

The monthly bill would increase from $75.62 to $81.55 per month or by 7.85 percent.

The costs associated with the purchase and transmission of natural gas are projected to be higher than the cost reflected in current rates, according to National Fuel. However, pricing will be adjusted quarterly to reflect current market prices.

National Fuel is required by law to shop for the most reasonably priced gas. As market prices change, National Fuel is required to pass those changes to customers, without any mark-up or discount.
