JAMESTOWN, New York - Jamestown Police arrested a Buffalo man during an attempted robbery Wednesday morning. 

Police were called to the Dollar General on Winsor Street in the City of Jamestown just after 9:15 a.m. for a robbery in progress. 

Police say Lester Santiago, 18, of Buffalo, entered the store and told a clerk he had a gun and wanted the register opened. Another store employee was able to call 911. 

Police arrived while the robbery was still in progress and were able to arrest Santiago without incident. 

Officers did not find a gun on the suspect. 

Santiago was taken to Jamestown City Jail where he is being held for arraignment on charges of attempted robbery.
