Some of us may still be recovering from losing an hour of sleep to daylight saving time a few weeks ago, but there is a new push in Pennsylvania to get rid of that twice-a-year clock shift.

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives on Monday passed legislation urging Congress to do away with the semi-annual clock changing ritual and authorize states to make daylight saving time permanent.

Pennsylvania joins 15 other states that have passed similar legislation.

State Rep. Ryan McKenzie, the Lehigh County Republican who sponsored the bill, said studies show that staying on daylight saving time will save energy, reduce traffic crashes and crime, along with leading to healthier lifestyles.

The bill now heads to the state Senate for consideration.
