If you plan on making a splash in your backyard this summer by adding a pool...chances are it's not going to happen unless it was ordered a year ago.

The store manager of Colley’s Pools & Spas on W. 26th street, Michelle Ericson told Erie News Now on Tuesday that pool and spa orders are oversaturated, this trend has continued since 2020. The average wait time for a pool is at least one year and jacuzzi at least 4 months.

"The problem that we're having is so many people have ordered pools in 2020 and there's not a lot of surplus pools for 2021. I’ve been the manager here for over 20 years and this past year and this year is the first year that I have not been able to meet customer's demands. It's hard when something's out of your control " said Michele Ericson, Store Manager of Colley's Pools & Spas.

It's the same scenario for Pool Doctor on W. 8th street. The shop owner Andrew Spear wasn't available to go on camera but stated that the pool industry as a whole is also behind due to an equipment shortage caused by the ice storm in Texas a few months ago. This shortage is also effecting Colley’s Pools & Spas as well.

"We're just seeing it now from Texas and it has to do with resin, your vinyl liners, pool products, and you know the back of the hot tubs that are fiber glass,” said Michelle Ericson

There's no real estimation as to how long the pool industry will stay oversaturated with orders. But if you're interested in purchasing a pool or a jacuzzi both shops recommend purchasing your item a year in advanced so you can guarantee it comes in time going forward.
