Pennsylvania State Police have identified the motorcyclist killed in an accident with a truck in Harborcreek Township Thursday.

The crash, which happened on Depot Rd. just south of Backus Rd. around 5:30 p.m., claimed the life of Paul R. McNaughton, 47, of North East.

McNaughton was driving his motorcycle northbound on Depot Rd. at an unsafe speed, failed to follow the curve in the roadway, crossed the center line and collided with a southbound Ford pickup truck, troopers said.

McNaughton was not wearing a helmet and pronounced dead at the scene. The crash caused moderate damage to the motorcycle's body and windshield, according to State Police.

The driver of the truck - a 52-year-old Erie man - suffered minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital for treatment. The driver side mirror of the truck was damaged in the accident, troopers said.
