The Erie Land Lighthouse was constructed at its current location in 1867.

17 years ago the Land Lighthouse received a major boost, receiving a 400 thousand dollar restoration grant.

It takes 69 steps to go from the ground floor to the top of the structure.

The view from nearly 50 feet from the ground is stunning.

Executive Director Emily Butler told Erie News Now, "this is an important piece of Erie history and it's just beautiful."

At its height in the 1920's, the Lighthouse played a critical role in bringing ships safely into Erie's harbor.

The Land Lighthouse will open May 22nd.

Hours are for 10:00 am until 4:00 pm, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
