Pennsylvania will lift its coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions Memorial Day. However, the mask mandate will remain in effect until 70 percent of Pennsylvania adults are fully vaccinated.

Statewide cases, deaths and testing

The Pennsylvania Department of Health is reporting 1,376 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases statewide in the last 24 hours, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 1,173,664 cases as of Sunday.

The state is reporting a total of 26,543 coronavirus-related deaths Sunday, which is an increase of 11.

Approximately 90 percent of cases have recovered.  4,463,060 have tested negative for coronavirus with 5,501 more negatives Sunday.

Hospitalizations and testing

In Pennsylvania, there are 1,863 patients hospitalized with COVID-19, which is a decrease of 61 from Saturday. Of that number, 426 (-1) are in the ICU.

The trend in the 14-day moving average number of hospitalized patients per day is starting to come down, after peaking at 2,661 patients which is slightly below what it was at the height of the spring 2020 peak of 2,751 patients on May 3, 2020.

Statewide percent positivity for the week of April 30 – May 6 stood at 6.6%.

Vaccinations

Pennsylvania has administered 9,191,857 (+62,768) total vaccine doses through May 8.

A total of 130,183 (+681) people have been fully vaccinated in Erie, Crawford and Warren Counties. 32,202 (-243) are partially vaccinated.

Vaccination numbers for Pennsylvania do not include Philadelphia, which is its own jurisdiction, or federal facilities, which are working directly with the federal government.

All Pennsylvania adults are eligible to schedule an appointment for the COVID-19 vaccine.
