Waldameer Opens for 2021 Season
A sign that summer is on its way? The opening of Waldameer!
Saturday's opening day brought tons of people out to the amusement park.
Park fans young and old, couldn't wait to start riding the rides.
Colten Pacasky a young Waldameer fan said, "I like the the water park, the food and the rides."
Some even traveling over an hour and a half to start the 2021 season.
Julia and Nathan Sellers traveled from Cleveland, Ohio and said coming to Waldameer brings a sense of nostalgia.
"I've been coming here since I was a kid and we just keep coming here every single year and the kids have been coming since they were babies", said Julia Sellers.
While park-goers this is an exciting start to summer, they say the best part about is that it's a sense of normalcy, something we haven't had in while.
Some haven't visited in over a year and they were thrilled to be back. Victoria Keister brought her young children and said it was great to be back.
"It's exciting, we didn't come out at all last year, so it's been a while and we are all excited to try the new rides and have some fun", said Kesiter.
Ride fans say the first day and perfect weather feels summer is already here. "It feels really good, yeah we are going to really enjoy the summer, we have season passes and we come here every year and back to doing the normal thing, said Nathan Sellers.
Whether it's your first summer or you are a season ticket holder, the community atmosphere was certainly alive at Waldameer.
Steve Gorman, the President said, "We like to think of Waldameer as a community park, we just happen to be the ones that operate it, but it's really everyone's park."
