All Pennsylvania electric distribution companies have increased prices as of June 1, the Pennsylvania Utility Commission (PUC) announced Tuesday.

Residential and small business customers are encouraged to conduct price "checkups" with their electric bills and review current contracts with their suppliers, according to PUC officials.

Energy prices will increase between 2 percent and 30 percent for the summer months, depending on the service territory. Penelec customers will see an increase of 30 percent, from 4.981 to 6.462 cents per kWh.

The PUC has established a PAPowerSwitch energy shopping website with valuable information on how to shop for electric supply services. Pennsylvania residents can access the PAPowerSwitch website here

The PUC also reminds residents to explore energy conservation to help manage bills and reduce energy usage, especially as many people remain home and the summer cooling season approaches.
