Work Search Requirements for Unemployment Benefits to Resume in Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania is set to resume work search requirements for those who receive unemployment benefits.
Starting July 18, people receiving unemployment compensation must apply for two jobs and participate in one work search activity each week.
Those activities include job fairs or searching for positions posted on the PA CareerLink website.
Career Concepts President Marc Turner says those seeking work have plenty of jobs to choose from.
The job placement agency is currently seeing an all-time high for job openings.
By reinstating the work search requirement, Turner says it will help address the labor shortage throughout the state.
"We're seeing the same thing at all of our branches, all the way down to Pittsburgh and also in Jamestown, New York,” said Turner. “I think it's obviously happening all over the region, so no matter where you're looking, you're going to find tremendous job availability."
According to the Wolf Administration, Pennsylvanians who turn down a suitable job offer or recall to work will no longer be eligible for unemployment benefits.
