204 Violations Handed out During Shooting Range Enforcement Detail at State Game Lands 109 in Erie County
The Pennsylvania Game Commission issued 204 violations as part of a recent law enforcement detail at State Game Lands 109 public shooting range in Erie County, the commission announced Tuesday.
The Game Commission increased its law enforcement presence through the end of July and early August after recent violations were reported.
During that time, about 73 percent of the encounters with law enforcement resulted in violations.
Common violations include use of the range without a valid hunting license or range use permit, shooting more than the lawful number of rounds, shooting at non-approved targets, using the range during closed hours, and possession of controlled substances and/or alcohol.
Shooters must possess either a valid hunting license or an annual range use permit to use the range. Ranges are open year-round from 8 a.m. until sunset Monday through Saturday, and Sundays from noon until sunset, unless otherwise stated.
