Pandemic Changes Focus for Presque Isle Printing Services: Giving You the Business
"I saw a need for small business and local non-profits to have quality printing at affordable prices," said Alice DeGeorge.
DeGeorge is the founder and CEO of Presque Isle Printing Services.
The business started in 2008 and has since moved to its third location, which is on W. Ridge Rd. in Millcreek Township.
The team includes Sara Buck, who takes orders and gives quotes.
Sara Garrity handles the graphic design.
DeGeorge oversees all operations - from the desktop to the heavy equipment - which drastically changed during the pandemic.
"We had to shift our mindset and our business plan to more of a commercial printing aspect," said DeGeorge.
The change still stands.
"We realized we were really heavy on smaller events - the birthday cards and baby invitations - and those were all gone," said DeGeorge. "We had to look to see where the income was going to come and who was still open."
Orders for printing to-go menus and safety stickers started coming in, along with heavy graphic work including QR codes, so restaurant customers could scan to access digital menus on smart phones.
"With the non-profit world, with their events being shut down, we did more digital work for them, so they could keep their message out there through social media and through their websites," said DeGeorge.
The printing business has a pulse on other small businesses and community organizations.
"We're here for them," said DeGeorge. "We're here to support them and make them look great in print and online."
