U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly is among four members under investigation by the House Ethics Committee, the committee announced Tuesday according to Roll Call.

The nonpartisan Office of Congressional Ethics investigated each case and determined there was reason to believe a violation happened. It cannot discipline members or issue subpoenas, unlike the House Ethics Committee.

Kelly was pushing the Trump administration to investigate foreign steel imports, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. His wife bought stock in a Pennsylvania steel company days before the Department of Commerce announced an investigation.

“The stock purchase, disclosed as required by U.S. House rules, created a scenario in which Mr. Kelly’s spouse, Victoria Kelly, may have gained personally from the actions of his public office, Congressional ethics experts said in interviews,” the Post-Gazette reported.

Kelly’s office did not respond to a request for comment, Roll Call said.

In a letter Tuesday, the Ethics Committee said it will announce its course of action on or before Oct. 21.
