As Thanksgiving Day quickly approaches, the Erie City Mission is once again helping out those who struggle to put food on the table.

On Monday, the Erie City Mission is set to host its annual Thanksgiving Good Giveaway.

Volunteers and employees of Kingdom Financial spent Friday, preparing hundreds of holiday food bags.

Each bag contains all of the holiday fixings, with enough food to feed a family of five.

Along with each bag, on Monday, the mission will hand out 1,200 turkeys.

With the rising cost of groceries causing many families to struggle, the Erie City Mission says this is their way of helping out members of our community, who need it the most.

"The price of turkey and food is up, and so that's affecting families in a way that if we can help with that cost, where they don't have to pay for this, that gives them the money for school supplies and for other things,” said Erie City Mission Chaplain Andy Kerr. “It's a huge thing."

The turkey giveaway begins on Monday, at 9:00 a.m.

It's important to note that you need an ID to receive a holiday meal.
