Nick Niles with the Frewsburg Fire Department tells WNY News Now crews were dispatched to a dog, named Tux, in distress at a pond off of Dodge Road in the Town of Carroll on Wednesday morning.

Tux’s back legs broke through the ice, and he was unable to get up. Firefighter Justin Martin and Charles Piazza quickly suited up in their wet gear and entered the pond to rescue the K-9.

They quickly met up with the dog who was struggling to maneuver on the thin ice. Crews carried Tux to shore where he was dried and warmed up briefly in the fire engine.
