Millcreek, Warren County, Conneaut School District, Erie Catholic Schools, and dozens of other school districts around the region are on high alert Friday after a call for school violence went viral on Tiktok.

Millcreek sent call blasts out to parents Thursday afternoon, saying in part, "All of these challenges encourage behaviors that come with serious consequences, including suspension from school and extracurricular activities, restitution, costs to replace damage or stolen time, as well as criminal charges."

Pennsylvania State Police sent out a statement Thursday evening warning of the challenge, but also saying there are currently no credible threats to any school in the commonwealth.

Erie News Now spoke with Millcreek Township Police, and they say situations like this can never be taken lightly. “You can never know what's going to happen. We just have to prepare," said Lt. Timothy Ferrick.

MTPD say they have been in contact with MTSD. They have plans to have extra officers on the ground, just in case something happens. They want parents to know they're doing everything they can to keep children safe.

“The Millcreek Township School District is actually hiring some officers to be on school grounds tomorrow as a presence, and then our patrol officers will be giving special attention to the school district buildings tomorrow during the school day," said Lt. Ferrick.

Some online are saying these challenges were meant to be jokes, however threats to any school building carry serious consequences. "This would be a terroristic threat charge at the very least. But we would upgrade to a felony 3, which is punishable up to seven years in prison and a $15 thousand fine," said Lt. Ferrick.

Again, no credible threats have been aimed at any Pennsylvania school. Police and school officials are urging parents to have conversations with their children about the severity of these challenges and consequences for those who follow through.
