With only days until Christmas, the CDC is predicting an alarming spike in Covid-19 infections and deaths is on the horizon.

So are people altering their plans ahead of the holidays?

We stopped by the Millcreek mall tonight, where holiday shoppers are preparing for next week's family gatherings.

A majority of the shoppers we spoke with said they plan to still meet with family.

However despite being vaccinated some people are opting for immediate family only for their holiday celebrations.

Local Epidemiologist Dr. Becky Dawson recommends, as Covid 19 cases rise, families rethink how they host holiday gatherings.

"If you want to do the big gatherings I would recommend the home tests. Make everyone test in the garage before you come inside to eat" said Dr. Dawson.

She also explained if you haven't gotten a booster shot it isn't too late.

The booster doesn't go into effect until 14 days after the initial shot but will be effective by New Years if done soon.
