Paws 'n Claws is a grooming salon where dogs small to large get combed, cut and styled, but that's not all.

Another service is Just for Paws Academy of Pet Styling, which helps groom future groomers through a program with the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

"We've been very fortunate to have trained and educated close to 100 graduates of our school," said Rob Tuznik who built Paws 'n Claws into a versatile place for pets. "These grads come from all over the eastern U.S. and a lot from the local area."

Paws 'n Claws also has play care.

"All the dogs do have to pass a temperament test," said Kara Bell, Tuznik's daughter and vice president of the business. "We do make sure they can get along with the other dogs but also so that the dog is comfortable. If the dog is not comfortable for whatever reason, we will not accept is. It's just not fair to the dog to make it uncomfortable like that."

Bell said there is a 10 to 1 ratio in the company's doggie daycare with a cap of 35 dogs.

There are also 15 condos for lodging. Some smaller dogs have stayed for a couple of hours up to a couple of weeks. Larger dogs are encouraged to go to the Paws 'n Claws Pet Resort in Girard for longer stays.

Dog TV is on for the pets who can enjoy their own time away from home. The pets get up-close and personal attention from the staff.

"If you consider what you do every day more fun than work, you're not really working," said Tuznik.
