Pennsylvania Reports 40,800 New Coronavirus Cases over Past 2 Days
The Pennsylvania Department of Health is reporting 40,800 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) over the past two days, bringing the statewide total to 2,077,224.
There are 5,413 people hospitalized with COVID-19 with 1,002 patients in the intensive care unit.
10 new deaths were reported over the last two days, increasing the total to 36,715.
Currently, 1,360,376 Pennsylvanians are partially vaccinated, 6,937,824 are fully vaccinated and 2,410,659 have received an additional dose.
Erie, Crawford, Warren, Chautauqua and Ashtabula Counties are currently in the high level of community transmission, according to the CDC's map for Dec. 23-29. All counties in Ohio and New York and all Pennsylvania counties except Forest County are seeing high transmission.
