As many as 4,000 Penelec customers in east Erie and Millcreek Township lost power Friday afternoon after a tree came down and damaged a utility pole.

It happened at Conrad and Norcross Rd. around 12:20 p.m.

Penelec was able to reconfigure its system to reduce the number of outages. Electricity was restored to all but just under 200 customers within an hour.

Crews replaced the pole and restored power to most of the remaining customers later in the afternoon.
