SeaWolves to Introduce Mobile Food Ordering at UPMC Park
As fans walk through the gates of UPMC Park, they will now have a new way to order their ballpark food favorites.
The Erie SeaWolves are introducing mobile food ordering this season. The new option is free.
QR codes will be placed around UPMC Park. Fans can use their cell phones to scan the code.
A website link will appear and it will direct fans to the mobile ordering website.
Fans will then select from one of two pickup locations. The two mobile ordering pickup spots will be at SeaWolves Galley along the third base side or the Bud Light Party Deck in right field.
Once fans select all items for their order, they can then pay on their phones.
A notification will then be sent to a fan's phone when the order is ready. Designated lines will be set up at each location for fans to pick up their order.
"We invested a lot of money in the offseason in a new point of sale system throughout the ballpark," said Greg Gania, Erie SeaWolves assistant general manager and director of communications. "That was just a part of what we wanted to do when we picked new systems. We want to have that mobile functionality. It's important because, you know, it's less time for people away from the game and it's more convenient for the fan."
Also new this season, all portable food stands around UPMC Park will be cashless. The main concession stands will still accept cash.
"We recognize that a lot of our fan base still likes to carry cash and that's okay," said Gania. "Eventually this will be a completely cashless ballpark."
