Academy High School Graduate Ronald R Martin was killed in Vietnam in 1965, he was 25 years-old.

He was fighting with the 1st Cavalry Division in the Plei Me area of Vietnam. 

The 1958 graduate of Academy High School was the city of Erie's first casualty of the Vietnam War.

Sgt. Martin, was a seven-year Army Veteran and former National Guard Member.

His name is one of over 60 from Erie County on the Vietnam Memorial Wall.

The Wall That Heals is coming to Erie on Memorial Day Weekend.

The Opening Ceremony will take place May 27, at the Zem Zem Shrine Club, on West 38th Street.

The Ceremony will get underway at Noon and will feature three guest speakers, including former Governor Tom Ridge.
