Mercyhurst University is expanding the services it offers to people with autism with the dedication of the Brad McGarry Center for Neurodiversity on Monday.

McGarry is one of the nation's best-known advocates for college students in the autism spectrum and has led the award-winning autism initiative at Mercyhurst for eight years.

This new center will be able to accommodate more students and broaden opportunities.

They plan to establish summer residential programs for prospective students to determine whether they are ready for the demands of college life.

They will also develop a pilot program to train students on the autism spectrum for jobs in cyber security and create training programs for employers looking to higher neuro-diverse people.

McGarry was diagnosed with ALS last year. The naming of this center was a surprise to honor his years of service to the program.
