City of Erie officials and sponsors gathered in Perry Square on Tuesday to unveil the big names for a big Celebrate Erie comeback August 19 - 21.  Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the popular downtown Erie festival took a two year hiatus.

Northwest Bank will sponsor the mainstage at 4th and State Streets.

On Friday night X-Ambassadors performs at 8pm.  The group from Ithaca, NY made the music scene in 2015 with hits Renegades and Unsteady from a now platinum album, and released a new album in 2021.

On Saturday night, it's a double bill concert beginning at 7:15pm with double platinum artist My'a and 4-time Grammy nominated Ja Rule with several hits on the Billboard Top 100.

Sunday night August 21, it's up and coming country music artist Jimmy Allen nominated for best new artist at the 2022 Grammy's and the first black artist to launch a career with two consecutive number one hits on country radio.

Executive Director of Celebrate Erie Aaron Loncki said he wanted a fresh, contemporary lineup in keeping with all the energy and new development going on in downtown Erie.  "So our mainstage lineup is going to be fresh, new, we're going to have a lot of people in their 30's-40's coming out as compared to years past," Loncki said, "but we encourage everyone to try something new, to experience Celebrate Erie in a new way and to come downtown no matter what you're going to do -- there's music on 5 different stages -- there's the chalk walk, there are activities for you your family and your friends."

Anita Kuchcinski, SVP, Northwest Bank Erie Market Executive said they are all in with that concept in sponsoring the mainstage acts.  "Northwest is so happy to be part of it...the just great development that's going on and the ability to be a mainstage sponsor and bring these acts in only makes it so we're bringing more people into Erie to share the excitement with us," Kuchcinski said. "We pulled a lot of funds from a lot of different areas in order to make it a very large investment on Northwest's part --but as I stated Northwest has been in the Erie community for 125 years and we're dedicated to providing for our community --and we couldn't be happier to put the funds in place."

Erie Mayor Joe Schember believes the lineup will draw a younger crowd. "It's great, it's going to bring more young people downtown to experience things down here and that's what we want to do -- hopefully with Covid going down now we can start bringing more and more people back to downtown Erie."

Presenting sponsors for the festival are Highmark and AHN Saint Vincent.  Erie News Now and Happi 92.7 are proud Celebrate Erie sponsors as well.
