The price sign at Sheetz on Perry Highway certainly turned heads and drew in an influx of drivers on Monday.

"I basically came up here to get gas because I heard about it, and thought I would take advantage of it, especially since I'm below the quarter of a tank," driver Valentine Osiecki told Erie News Now.

Sheetz has Unleaded 88 priced at $3.99 per gallon, and Flex-Fuel priced at just $3.49. It’s nearly a dollar lower than the $4.95 for regular gasoline.

“We run six trucks a day, pick-up trucks, when we're on the road any dime we can save is a huge savings,” driver, Jim Reese, said.

Many people we spoke to were excited for the discount but were disappointed to learn the drop did not apply to all grades.

“I said, you know, this rang up at $4.92 a gallon. I thought it was supposed to be $3.99 a gallon? Oh no, you have to buy this special fuel. To me, that's false advertising," said driver Teresa Rula.

Only cars made after year 2000 can take Unleaded 88. Only specific makes and models are able to take Flex-Fuel.

“If somebody pulls up in a Toyota, and they're like ‘I can put e85 in my gas tank,’ they're going to get that engine knock, and it's not going to be good,” said Zack Gillespie.

Be sure to take a look at your vehicle's Owner’s Manual and verify if you can take advantage of this discount while it lasts.
