The Erie Otters selected Slovakian winger Ondrej Molnar with the fifth overall pick in the 2022 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.

“Ondrej is the player that we targeted from the beginning of the process. He’s dynamic, skilled, and loves having the puck on his stick,” said Scott Grieve, Erie Otters director of hockey operations. “We are thrilled to add a player of Ondrej’s caliber to our organization, and we look forward to seeing him in an Otters uniform in September.”

The 5'11" forward played in 63 games between three different Slovakian Leagues. In 25 games for Nitra HK in the Slovakia 20 league, Molnar registered 13 goals and 19 points in 25 games.

He added four goals in the Slovakia D League and had two assists in 30 games at Slovakia E League.

The Erie Otters passed on their second-round selection with Artyom Kulakov on the roster and only two import players allowed on each team.

This is the fifth time in team history the Otters selected a Slovakian-born player.

Molnar is eligible for the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
