The first of three people looking to swim across Lake Erie this month accomplished the feat Sunday.

Abigail Fairman, an ultra-marathon swimmer from Northumberland County, Pa., finished the 24-mile swim from Long Point, Ontario, to Freeport Beach in North East, with an unofficial time of 15 hours, 27 minutes and 30 seconds.

It will become official once ratified by Lake Erie Open Water Swimming and Marathon Swimming.
