With free agency set to open Wednesday, it appears Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeni Malkin will be among the names available to talk to every team around the league.

TSN's Darren Dreger reported Monday night the Penguins' center will head to the open market after failing to agree on a new contract with Pittsburgh.

This will be the first time the veteran will enter free agency as he has spent his entire 16-year career in Pittsburgh.

Malkin has played in 981 games for the Penguins over that span. He has tallied 444 goals and 1,146 points which ranks third all-time behind Mario Lemieux (1,723 points) and Sidney Crosby (1,409 points).
