Gannon Graduate Chuck Pora served in the National Guard from 1968-1974.

He did not see combat duty in Vietnam, but decades later, he wrote about the war through the eyes of three Erie teenagers.

His book, "Peace Too You, Brother," was published in 2013.

Based on true events, it tells the story of three young people growing up in Erie, during the 1960's.

They are hoping to plan their futures, but the Vietnam War is hanging over their heads.

Pora told Erie News Now, "I call it a book of dreams, devotion and devastation, because of what happened to these three people."

"I was concerned about the reaction from Vietnam Veterans when the book came out, Pora continued. A lot of them were okay with the book."

"Not seeing combat has left me with a real sense of survivors guilt. I am here and many of my friends are on the Wall. I have a great deal of respect for those who served."

The book is available at Werner Books in the Liberty Shopping Center.

The price for a paperback version is $17.95.
