Checking websites is a daily occurrence for many people, and creating websites is the main purpose of weCreate, a business located in downtown Erie.

"We want to make sure we're not spilling an awesome website, but we want to make sure we're building a website that's going to get business and provide a return on investments for our client," said Nate Wheeler, CEO of weCreate.

Wheeler, along with business partners Brian Bohrer and Zach Lanich, are the trio behind some recognizable work for popular area attractions like Splash Lagoon, Peek 'n Peak Resort and Oliver's Rooftop.

weCreate's work has also helped the manufacturing industry, both locally and beyond.

It has created a networking tool for manufacturing businesses called the Tristate Manufacturers Marketplace.

"It's a place where they can go and identify a supplier for their exact needs," said Wheeler. We're also using our marketing expertise to drive traffic to the website."

There's more than 1,000 parking meters in downtown Erie, and weCreate is the company its parking app MeterEZ, so you can forget about paying with coins and instead use your phone.

"Most of these companies that do these apps, try to do them all the time, and they fail," said Christopher Friday, executive director of Erie Parking Authority. "There's several in Pittsburgh that have done this. weCreate with MeterEZ has established a solid program foundation to where it doesn't fail. It's consistent and that allows them to have longevity."

The weCreate team is already working on a new version of the parking app.

"You can add time, [and] you can get notifications when it is going to expire," said Friday.

In the winter, it will help drivers avoid snow or icy conditions when trying to park.

"In my mind, there's no economic development tool more tangible or more straight line than taking successful businesses and helping them be more successful," said Wheeler.
