The Erie Cancer Wellness Center hosted an open house Wednesday to show the progress being made in the renovations of its brand new facility.

The transformation is well underway for the 4,500-square-foot facility, which will house support programs and services for people facing a cancer diagnosis.

It is located on W. 15th St. in the plaza off of Pittsburgh Ave.

Services will include counseling, lectures, massages, music therapy and even a wig salon for those losing their hair due to their cancer treatments.

"In addition to offering services to the person being treated, we are also going to offer services for the family and the caregivers," said Sarah Humphrey, executive director.

The facility plans to be up and running by mid-September.

All services will be free of charge.
