Diverse Erie Helps Small Business Owners Apply for Grants
Businesses in disadvantaged areas of Erie County are eligible for some big financial boosts, because of a new grant program from Diverse Erie.
Applying for grants can be confusing, especially for new business owners, so Diverse Erie is hosting a string of workshops to help business owners get grants.
The first of those workshops was today at their office on state street.
Business owners learned about grant eligibility, and how to apply for up to $500,000 in funding.
Organizers say small business owners, especially minority owners, often struggle to get grants because they lack experience in applying.
"We really want to make sure we invest properly in the BIPOC community, we want to really bring that community up, so we when we bring that community up, we bring everyone up in Erie," said Gary Lee, Diverse Erie CEO.
So workshops, along with targeted grants help level the playing field.
If you think your business might be eligible for a grant and would like to learn how to apply, two more workshops are scheduled.
One next Tuesday, August 9th, at the library in Millcreek and a virtual one, Thursday August 11th.
