New Pay Scale At Waldameer Park & Water World Attracted Many New Employees
Over 600 people are employed at the Amusement Park this Summer.
Many High School or College students filled out applications in the Spring.
They heard about the new pay scale at Waldameer Park and Water World and applied.
Under the new wage scale, anyone age 17 or over starts at $15.00 an hour.
It's 14 dollars an hour for anyone age 16.
Waldameer President Steve Gorman told Erie News Now, "We needed to do this to attract new employees, because last year, our employment level really suffered."
General McLane student Jace Walls jumped at the opportunity. "The other summer jobs I had compared to here, aren't even close. I didn't get paid a lot last summer, but I still worked them."
With workers returning to College or preparing for the start of the High School year, Gorman knows, he will have hours to fill.
"I have been here 25-years and it's frustrating," he told Erie News Now. "I think there is little enthusiasm for young people to want to work. We try to make it a fun place to work with incentives and bonuses. We'll just keep working at it."
