A company in Erie is breathing technology into places all across America.

A team of engineers are working together at PSnergy to create a patented box that would be a total combustion solution.

PSnergy is a company that helps large industrial customers increase the efficiency and reduce emissions of their industrial furnaces.

Company president Carl Nicolia said his staff is able to track and measure excess oxygen in every burner in the furnace.

Alex Bailey leads the team of engineers that bring technology to a typically underserved industrial market.

"We like to talk about small data, said Bailey. "Instead of delivering a report, they have to thumb through and figure out what to do. We say this is the problem. We need to go here and do this to resolve it."

The work has come with support from Gannon University and Penn State Behrend, the alma mater of some current employees.

The project started with a blank white board developed into something with national reach.

Last week, Nicolia received the Forward Award from the Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership for working to move the city forward.
