Roughly 40 students are finishing a three-day camp where they learned skills from former NBA star Ray Felton.

Felton is a 14-year NBA veteran and was in Erie for a first of its kind basketball camp.

He said as a father himself, he tries to teach youth more than just on the court moves at his camps around the country.

"I just want to give them some discipline and life skills as well, you can use basketball as a tool to help them in life," said Felton. "To be honest, our youth right now a lot of them are going the wrong way. If I can use my knowledge of what I've been through and what I know to help some of them then I'm doing my part."

The hope is to make the camp an annual event. Felton said he plans to return next year.
